Melbourne

I like Melbourne…

and I am sad to think that these few days there will be my last time in this city before being sending back home.

Bourke St, Little Bourke St, Collins, Little Collins St, Vic’Market, Fed’Square, Flinders Station and St Kilda… I miss it already.

Phillip Island

Phillip Island is situated near the Mornington Peninsula, two hours drive in the south of Melbourne.

Very famous for his Koala reserve, also for the racing track. And beaches, good to relax after the Overland trek.

Overland Track - Day Six - Hobart

A ferry trip on Lake St Clair closes the adventure on the Overland Track.
We arrive in Hobart by bus in the evening. It can rain now, and it rains.

After a deserved shower, a stroll in the capital city of Tasmania…
... and by hazard, we stand face to face to a member of the Outback trip done 10 months ago, small world… Small Tassie trip, small island and quick flight to Melbourne then…

Overland track - day four

Lizards take the sun on the path... and leeches try to cling to us from the moment a feet is brushing against the grass.

Everywhere the nature and everything is wild…

We have to let no step behind us, no bins, 6 days rubbish to carry. No shower on the way, just the terrific eco-toilet close the huts.

Overland Track - Day Three

Walking on plateau is nice…

After hiking by alternation in forest, it is pleasant to see the sky again.

Lucky we are, mostly sunny and warm the day, just cooler morning, evening and night.

After a hard day, I have got still some energy to achieve the best sunset spot and enjoy it…

Overland Track - Day Two

Like the flies and mosquitoes, the wallabies invite themselves for dinner time.

That’s more polite than the possum which looking for stealing some food in our backpacks during the night.

But it is always nicer than the rats which disturb bushwalkers sleeping into the huts.

Overland Track - Day One

Entering the Park, thousands dead gumtrees as white as skeletons perform a danse macabre in way of welcoming. Early 19th century, since the British settled here loaded of convicts, no one from the Tasmanian indigenous population survived to the diseases, wars and persecutions.

I love the Australian trees; most of them deserve to be taken in picture.

Gumtrees everywhere… how they are, it is like they have got a soul. I wish to make some growning in France... Anyway, to take picture is always a good reason to have a quick rest!

Tasmania - Launceston

That’s done, I fly to the last Australian territory my steps have never been yet… Tassie ! New trip, same great travel mate I follow here on the Overland Track, situated in Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park.
It is a 6 days walk, travelling 65 km through the heart of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

Arrived in Launceston, 2nd biggest city of the island, we pack our bags of enough food to survive during the expedition. Ok, Peter carries more: tent, cooking cutlery and stove… but even with few cloth my bag up to approximately 18kg… I will suffer!
