Australia Day

Invasion Day or Survival Day… it depends from where you are.

The 26th January is the official national day of Australia.
It commemorates the arrival in 1788 at Sydney Cove of the British First Fleet full of convicts and the proclamation of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of the continent.

Day off for the Australians, most of them enjoy it with friends, beers and BBQ.

The Ozzy (Ozzy Ozzy, oi oi oi!) Union Jack flies and is shown everywhere, as worn as tattooed.

In Sydney, it is a sunny and warm day to enjoy...

Free music concerts all around The Rocks,

Ships parade on the Bay,

Stroll in the Botanic Garden,

Free splash on the ferry deck (it seems that each person living in Sydney has this experience one time on his life, so it is alright…)

which sailed me to Darling Harbour where a firework was fired to conclude the festivities.

I love Australia.
But I had funny senses this day. I felt like I was really not a part of it…
